Anfang 2024 habe ich Deutschland verlassen und bin in die Schweiz ausgewandert. Es war lange ein Gedanke, der zu einem Traum wurde. Es bedeutete auch, ein System hinter sich zu lassen, das sich zunehmend wie ein sinkendes Schiff anfühlte.
Die gesellschaftliche Entwicklung in Deutschland, geprägt von wachsender Ineffizienz, Bürokratie und Ellenbogenmentalität, stand im starken Kontrast zu dem, was ich in der Schweiz vorfand: ein respektvollerer Umgang, mehr Miteinander und ein funktionierendes Gemeinwesen.
Diese gesellschaftliche Qualität ist nicht selbstverständlich. Sie ist ein hohes Gut, das es zu bewahren gilt, denn sie kann schnell verloren gehen, wenn man nicht achtsam bleibt. Ich bin dankbar, hier leben und wirken zu dürfen, und trage gerne meinen Teil dazu bei, dass dieses Miteinander erhalten bleibt.
In early 2024, I left Germany and emigrated to Switzerland. It had long been a thought that grew into a dream. It also meant leaving behind a system that had increasingly started to feel like a sinking ship.
The societal development in Germany – characterized by growing inefficiency, bureaucracy, and a cutthroat mentality – stood in huge contrast to what I found in Switzerland: more respectful interactions, stronger community spirit, and a functioning society.
This societal quality is not to be taken for granted. It is a precious asset worth preserving, as it can quickly be lost if one is not mindful. I am grateful to live and work here, and I gladly contribute my part to ensuring this sense of community endures.
In meiner Projektarbeit habe ich ein automatisiertes Patchmanagement-System auf Basis von N-Able N-sight RMM entwickelt – einer marktführenden Lösung im Bereich Remote Monitoring & Management.
Zuvor wurden sicherheitskritische Updates manuell durchgeführt, um höchste Qualitäts- und Compliance-Standards zu erfüllen. Durch gezielte Erweiterung und Umgehung bestehender Limitationen konnte ich eine Lösung schaffen, die vollautomatisiert die gleichen hohen Standards sicherstellt – bei gleichzeitiger Reduktion manueller Aufwände auf nahezu null.
Gleichzeitig wurde erreicht, flächendeckend bei allen Kunden ein sicheres Konzept mit drei gestaffelten Testgruppen und einer Produktivgruppe umzusetzen. Dadurch konnten wir jeden Monat die höchste Verfügbarkeit und vollständige Funktionalität der kritischen Systeme sicherstellen und garantieren.
In my project work, I developed an automated patch management system based on N-Able N-sight RMM – a market-leading solution in Remote Monitoring & Management.
Previously, security-critical updates were performed manually to meet the highest quality and compliance standards. Through targeted extensions and workarounds for existing limitations, I created a solution that fully automatically ensures the same high standards – while reducing manual effort to nearly zero.
At the same time, we achieved a secure concept across all customers with three staggered test groups and one production group. This allowed us to guarantee maximum availability and full functionality of critical systems every month.
Bevor ich die Rolle des RMM-Spezialisten übernahm, herrschte Chaos: Jeder Mitarbeiter skriptete individuell für seine eigenen Kunden, ohne übergreifende Verantwortung. Es gab keine zentrale Strategie, keine einheitlichen Standards, wenig Automatisierung – und keine Person, die das große Ganze im Blick hatte.
Ich übernahm die Verantwortung für NinjaOne und schuf von Grund auf ein durchdachtes, kundenübergreifendes System. Fortan war jede Änderung, jedes Skript und jede Konfiguration für alle Kunden profitabel – nicht nur für einzelne.
Durch die Entwicklung zahlreicher Skripte, Überprüfungen, Custom Fields und Monitoring-Graphs entstand eine konsistente, skalierbare Umgebung, die den gesamten IT-Support-Prozess revolutionierte.
Before I took on the role of RMM Specialist, chaos reigned: Each employee scripted individually for their own customers, without overarching responsibility. There was no central strategy, no unified standards, little automation – and no one with an eye on the big picture.
I took responsibility for NinjaOne and built a well-thought-out, cross-customer system from the ground up. From then on, every change, every script, and every configuration benefited all customers – not just individual ones.
Through the development of numerous scripts, checks, custom fields, and monitoring graphs, a consistent, scalable environment emerged that revolutionized the entire IT support process.
Alerts wurden per E-Mail an eine gemeinsame Mailbox gesendet. Das Problem: Auch bereits gelöste Alerts blieben als E-Mails bestehen und mussten manuell geprüft werden, um festzustellen, ob sie noch relevant waren. Das führte zu unnötigem Aufwand, Unterbrechungen und verlorenem Fokus auf die wirklich kritischen Probleme.
Mein nächstes großes Projekt war die eigene Entwicklung eines Self-Hosted API Dashboards in Python, das eine zentrale Herausforderung löste: die Priorisierung und Übersicht aller aktuellen Alerts.
Das Dashboard aggregiert Alerts in Fast-Echtzeit, priorisiert sie automatisch nach Kritikalität und Priorität und zeigt jedem Support-Mitarbeiter auf einen Blick, welche Aufgabe als Nächstes bearbeitet werden muss.
Dadurch entfiel die Notwendigkeit ständiger Absprachen im Team. Jeder Supporter konnte eigenständig erkennen, wo der dringendste Handlungsbedarf besteht – ohne nachdenken zu müssen.
Alerts were sent via email to a shared mailbox. The problem: Even already resolved alerts remained as emails and had to be manually checked to determine if they were still relevant. This led to unnecessary effort, interruptions, and lost focus on truly critical issues.
My next major project was the in-house development of a self-hosted API dashboard in Python, which solved a central challenge: prioritization and overview of all current alerts.
The dashboard aggregates alerts in near real-time, automatically prioritizes them by criticality and priority, and shows each support team member at a glance which task needs to be addressed next.
This eliminated the need for constant team coordination. Each supporter could independently identify where the most urgent action was needed – without having to think about it.
